ACM Fellowship Application
The Mystic Ozark immersive video exhibit is a 5 1/2 minute experience walking guests through the water cycle of Hot Springs National Park (HSNP). This was my first project for a museum, and I learned a lot through collaborating with Process Curiosity. We were able to take the complex & extremely long process of natural thermal water heating and explain it in a way that guests could walk away with a better understanding of the process, while also learning about Hot Springs, Arkansas in a new way. We also used this exhibit to help guests with disabilities feel like they were at important places in HSNP that they wouldn’t have been able to visit otherwise. To accomplish this we used live action and animated storytelling, paired with a custom spatial sound design and a projection mapped viewing space which now lives in a former bathhouse within HSNP. This project was challenging not only from a story perspective, but also from a technical perspective as we had to work with very strict rules for installing into the historic building that it calls home. It opened in May 2025, and we have had a lot of positive response from the local community, park rangers, and tourists. Being able to help tell complex stories in a new engaging way is exciting and I can’t wait to do more exhibits like this.

Conference Impact Statement
Being a freelancer who is just entering the museum world, I don’t have many connections with curators or exhibit designers. This also means I don’t have access to the same resources as someone working full-time for a larger company. Having spent more than a decade in the commercial photo & video world, I have learned the importance of building professional relationships with people of all backgrounds. Attending InterActivity would be a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people who I can potentially collaborate with on future projects. It will also be a great way to learn more about how different museums are hoping to utilize technology in new ways to educate visitors. Having the opportunity to build more relationships with museum professionals will lead to more collaborations creating better educational opportunities for the next generation of learners.
