Adventure Time | Filming Moose in Grand Teton National Park w/ Sony Fx6

The Sony Fx6 has quickly become my favorite video camera just because of how versatile and easy it is to use. While time-lapsing in the Jackson, Wyoming area at the beginning of November I stumbled upon a little moose family one evening and decided to attempt some sunrise video goodness the next morning. This was a great time to test my new(ish) 100-400 gm lens with the fx6 in an ever evolving situation.

As a pretty novice wildlife photographer/filmmaker I have quickly learned that being nimble is key because you can’t predict how things will pan out. Whether it is light & weather changes or how the animals move around. The small size of the Fx6 made it easy to move around the area making sure I wasn’t impeding the moose ability to live in their natural habitat. The 100-400 gm was a perfect balance of zoom to size as well allowing me to get great frames while not adding too much bulk to the camera.

My custom backpack rigging came in clutch allowing me to be able to film during quick moves if a great shot unfolded. While it was a bit front heavy using the 100-400 zoomed out at all… It at least allowed me to get a usable shot which could be cleaned up with a little stabilization in post.

The Fx6 continues to impress in different situations, and this just proves the case. I hope you enjoyed the footage!!
