New Work | Mystic Ozark Immersive Experience
Our latest project is now live!! A brand new immersive experience created in collaboration with Process Curiosity for Mid-America Science Museum inside Hot Springs National Park (HSNP). It was a big undertaking on a tight budget, but it’s been an incredible success!
Our scope encompassed ideating the creative through installing the final experience inside a former bathhouse at HSNP. This was an 11 month long process with many partners along the way. It’s interesting seeing how projects evolve and stay true to the original plan over such a long period with so many variables at play.
The main goal we needed to achieve was educating kids on the water cycle specific to HSNP. This sounds very randomly specific, however as the United States oldest federally protected natural resource, the water in HSNP has a very unique lifecycle which spans approximately 4,000 years. The thermal warming process is also different than most geothermal hot springs around the world. Especially Yellowstone (which is probably the most famous of hot springs around).
We also needed the projection mapped experience to feel as big as possible while working around constraints associated with being inside a historic build located in a National Park. The fire alarm system, nothing being square, and limited anchoring locations to name a few of the weird things we had to work around.
The result is a 5 1/2 minute long ~440 square foot immersive experience with visual opportunities surrounding the guest while a custom soundscape leads the viewer to different key visuals throughout the experience. Needless to say, this is something which can’t be fully experienced without visiting Mystic Ozark and seeing it in person… so with that I'm going to sign off for today and we’ll dig into how we made it happen a bit more with another blog post!
