Better Content in the Field
Today I’m bringing you 3 quick tips for capturing better content in the field.
1. Rise & Grind
Never confuse work with vacation. Travel is exhausting & can deplete your energy very quickly. Adequately hydrate, choose an energy giving diet, and get adequate sleep in the weeks leading up to the trip. On each trip, it’s amazing how much energy is required. We get up early (try to get out to catch a sunrise) & stay up late to organize all of the day’s footage & check gear is clean. The preparation is just as important as the actual trip. I typically lose 10 lbs while out on a project just from constantly moving.
2. Do Your Research
There is nothing worse than being unprepared in place you don’t know or understand. Use the amazing resources (read: the internet) prior to the trip. Use social media to find people’s stories that have been to where you’re going or ask questions in groups. Network yourself as much as possible and take every opportunity to speak with people who have been there before you. You can save yourself a headache by listening to others’ feedback, even if you decide to not take the paths they did.
3. Travel Smart
It’s never a waste of time to grab some feedback on what you’re planning to bring on a shoot. Check out my previous posts and youtube videos regarding what I pack. Send me a message and we can chat about it. I’d love to hear your personal experiences regarding schedule, research, & equipment on site. More importantly, what have you learned from these photography experiences.
