Imagining the Future of Travel

I'd like to think we’re starting to see how life is going to be for the next few years as Covid-19 gets sorted out. Travel is slowly starting again domestically in most countries, which is giving us a glimpse into how both land & air travel will go. Quite frankly, this has also allowed me to give some thought into also trying to travel a bit more eco-friendly.

I see ground travel becoming a much more viable option for potential projects on the east coast. While it may take a little more time, it will offer much more safety with more control of distancing. This will also open up some new opportunities to explore with the utmost classic of road trips & some random camping along the way.

As for international travel, I can’t even predict exactly how long it will be until we are able to go places again. However, I’m starting to realize that the least amount of time I can spend in a plane will be the best thing I can do. This whole pandemic has helped me realize I can also travel with a lesser impact on the environment as well. I think for a bit, we will run into quarantine requirements upon entering a country (especially with how we’ve handled Covid-19 in the USA). Because of this, I think it will be incredibly important to make the absolute most out of a trip.

At least for me, I am now looking to partner with multiple NGOs working in a single country during a single trip. While it may require more time in a country, this eliminates many flights that would be needed otherwise. It also creates an opportunity to gain a more intimate knowledge of the culture & communities.

How exactly will this work? What will trip lengths look like? I don’t know exactly yet. I’m excited to get a few projects moving again & see the impact which can be had around the world!
